Terry Hall and The Liquidator

THE LIQUIDATOR AND TERRY HALL

The passing of Terry Hall has revived interest in The Specials’ cover of The Liquidator.  It became the Chelsea anthem after The Specials revived it, from the original by the Harry J. All Stars on Trojan Records.

Harry J All Stars’ classic 1969 chart hit, ‘The Liquidator’, featuring legendary organist Winston Wright on organ was cut on the rhythm first used on Tony Scott’s ‘What Am I To Do’, and is the standard chant at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge.

The Specials’ Skinhead Symphony

Punk speed with football anthem percussion became part of Terry Hall’s Skinhead Symphony Suite with The Specials. The frontman passed away at the end of 2022 and this is part of his legacy from a collectable EP/Single released at the height of Two-Tone.
