Back in August 2019 Neil Finn made headlines when he informed bandmate Mark Hart he was no longer needed in the band, just one week after announcing the band would reunite to play at Byron Bay Bluesfest on Sunday April 12 2020. The Bluesfest show is to be the group’s first live performance since they celebrated their 20th anniversary Farewell to the World concert at the Sydney Opera House in 2016.

Hart who joined the band in 1993 took to Twitter to reassure fans he was doing fine saying:

“Hello All, I feel it’s time to let you all know that Neil has informed me that I will not be a part of the band’s new lineup,” Hart wrote on Saturday. “Being a part of Crowded House for 30 years was a pleasure and a privilege. I wish them well and hope you all enjoy the new band. Best to you all, Mark.”

So who will be playing in Byron Bay? Neil Finn (who has just finished at touring Australia as part of Fleetwood Mac – as you may or may not know Finn became a fully-fledged member of the legendary classic rockers in 2018), the 2020 version of Crowded House includes original bass player Nick Seymour and second incarnation drummer Matt Sherrod, as well as a guest appearance by the band’s producer and keyboardist Mitchell Froom.

And Crowded House won’t be stopping there. They’ll be boarding a plane in June and heading first to the UK and then on to Europe with performances in locations including Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Berlin, Netherlands, London, Cork and Dublin.
